Woolen socks, handicraft of north of Iran

Woolen socks and other hand-woven textures are handicrafts of villagers in northern parts of Iran.

Iran is a country of various cultures and every part of it has its own handicrafts and handmade items.

The material that is used in hand-woven textures is selected based on the natural sources and climate of the area.

For example one of the materials used in northern parts of Iran for weaving textures is wool because of the cold weather in the area.

One of the widely woven items in north of Iran that is interesting to visitors is woolen sock.

The art of weaving woolen socks is still practiced in Savadkouh County, Mazandaran Province. But, it may be soon forgotten and needs to be taught to the younger generations.
